A DAY’S SHOOTINGTypically the Guns will meet in our Shooting Lodge at around 9:15am for tea/coffee and scones, while getting a run-through of the day’s programme. Shooting begins no later than 10:00am with four to six drives being shot during the day. The number of drives is dependant on the location of the drives, the size of the bag and the available light due to the time of the year. Guns travel by our Estate wagon between pegs. Mid-morning light refreshments are served in the field or at that Lodge. Guns have the option of either a break for lunch or to ‘shoot through’ when, after the final drive of the day, drinks, a hot meal, dessert, tea & coffee are served in the Shooting Lodge.
Our purpose-built lodge is built from larch and other local woods and contains a large and welcoming Wicklow granite fireplace, the ambiance around which allows the Guns the opportunity to discuss the day’s sport and with appropriate humour debate a Gun’s skills. One topic that never is in doubt – the quality and challenge of our birds! |
